Pierce Commercial Laundry Distributors, LLC Receives Top Honor from Maytag® Commercial Laundry

Pierce Commercial Laundry Distributors, LLC (Pierce Commercial) of Mandeville, La., received the prestigious Fred Maytag Award during the Maytag Commercial Laundry 50th Annual National Meeting in Scottsdale, Ariz. Created 50 years ago, the Fred Maytag Award is the longest-running award in the commercial laundry industry.

“This year, Maytag Commercial Laundry celebrates it’s golden anniversary, as does the Fred Maytag Award. It is such an honor to be able to present the award to such a young, striving family company. While Pierce Commercial is a relatively new company, their achievements in years would be volumes. They exemplify the Fred Maytag Award,” said Craig Kirchner, national sales director of commercial laundry at Whirlpool Corporation.

When Fred Maytag established this award, his primary objective was to recognize a Maytag Commercial Laundry Distributor for outstanding achievements and remarkable performance for a given year. Recipients emulate Fred Maytag’s marketing philosophy to distribute Maytag Commercial Laundry products with professionalism and integrity.

Established in 1993 in the New Orleans area, Pierce Commercial turned the devastation of Hurricane Katrina into an opportunity for growth and expansion across the Gulf Coast. Today, the company’s territory includes Louisiana, Mississippi, the Gulf Coast of Alabama and the Florida Pan Handle. Pierce Commercial specializes in the sales, service, supplies, parts and design for coin, multi-housing and on-premise laundry applications.

Pierce Commercial's success, however, is no surprise to George Pierce, who grew up in a Maytag Commercial Laundry family. His father, Walter “Spike” Pierce, was a Maytag salesman beginning in 1970 and later a Maytag brand manager.

"Maytag was the only brand I knew growing up," added Pierce, "It is the brand for eager and successful entrepreneurs. Customers don’t have to worry about breakdowns with this equipment, so they can focus on all the other aspects of their businesses.”

Owner George Pierce, along with wife Kim Pierce, and general manager Laura Battistella, were all on hand during the meeting to receive the award.
